As a Manager, Advisory - Business Risk Services, your key role will be to lead and undertake engagements in the Strategic Risk, Internal Audit and Controls space, reporting to Senior Managers and Directors.

The opportunity

On standard engagements, you will manage teams and stakeholders, internally and externally. On more technically complex engagements, you will undertake risk and audit fieldwork. You will be responsible for taking ownership of projects, delivering high quality results, coaching and developing team members and delivering on time and to budget.

The Business Risk Services team in our Risk practice provides a range of Risk related services including: Strategic (enterprise level) Risk; Internal Audit, Controls, Sarbanes Oxley.

Your key responsibilities

Client responsibilities:

  • Deliver and manage client engagements and internal projects
  • Support and lead proposals and bid teams
  • Develop junior team members
  • Develop your industry profile and that of the team through publications, events, briefings
  • Support team strategy implementation, marketing and sales
  • Monitor and manage client engagement budgets

People responsibilities:

  • Create a positive learning culture through effective supervising, coaching, and mentoring of junior team members
  • Demonstrate consistent commitment and optimism toward challenges
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback for staff

Skills and attributes for success

  • Good project management skills to ensure engagements deliver on time and budget
  • Deep understanding of core financial and operational business processes, associated risks and leading practice controls
  • Experience conducting risk-based Internal Audits
  • Internal controls experience (inc. regulatory compliance and strengthening internal controls framework, covering treasury, finance, reporting and compliance function)
  • Ability to engage and manage stakeholders and manage cross functional projects
  • Demonstrate good self-awareness when dealing with others and adapt own approach based on differences in personal style and backgrounds, recognising risk of unconscious bias
  • Demonstrate business acumen - compile information quickly and accurately, testing data and assumptions
  • Familiar with quality and risk management and financial management requirements of managing projects

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Robust enterprise risk experience, with experience at a Big 4 firm
  • Good understanding of core components of enterprise risk framework and experience in assessing its effectiveness and/or designing its key components
  • Risk and control identification and gap analysis experience (financial, operational, compliance)
  • Experience developing propositions and sales collateral that are current and relevant to clients
  • Track record of testing strategies to assess control design and effectiveness
  • Team management experience

Ideally, you'll also have

  • ERM assessment
  • Risk drivers, Risk Indicators and C-Suite Risk Reporting
  • ERM framework design and Risk appetite - development and embedding - to drive value
  • Developing, advising or operating integrated assurance/compliance approaches (3LOD) and revised operating models for Risk, Control and Compliance
  • Control design and implementation for optimal financial control frameworks, testing effectiveness and evidence
  • Programme Risk Management - assuring complex change
  • Risk Culture assessment
  • Financial processes and accounting
  • Process mapping, walkthroughs and risk analysis
  • Internal audit approaches - methods, tools and platforms
  • Control automation/optimisation in 1st, 2nd or 3rd line through RPA, Analytics and AI is beneficial
  • Ability to write impactful reports
