Our client is a leading Private Equity business in central London. A direct investor in specialist markets across the UK and Europe. A newly/recently qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is sougght for a broad role covering management/financial accounting, some fund accounting and some portfolio reporting. This breadth of role makes this position unique compared to others in the market.

This breadth of role makes this position unique compared to others in the market.

The Role:

Portfolio Planning and Analysis

  • Ability to effectively communicate and build strong relationships with portfolio finance teams
  • Reviewing and approving portfolio company data submissions
  • Consolidation of data submissions and analysis to identify key themes and report into key senior firm stakeholders
  • Running fund level analysis based on investment performance
  • Frequent use and maintenance of our portfolio reporting system iLevel
  • Additional project support to help drive reporting improvement projects

Corporate Accounting

  • Assisting with the preparation of the month end management accounts and report including financial information, balance sheet reconciliations and commentary on budgetary variances and other non-financial data
  • Preparation of quarterly regulatory reporting requirements, including VAT and FCA returns
  • Assisting with preparation of annual audit files and statutory accounts for auditors, for an allocation of funds as well as entities within the corporate structure
  • Supervision of fortnightly UK and German payment runs (prepared by the Accounts Assistant) and input of sales and purchase invoices, focusing on accuracy of general ledger postings and payment details; and
  • Assisting with annual tax reporting and related information in a variety of jurisdictions and entities

Other Responsibilities

  • Supervision of finance assistants' work
  • Assist with continued systems implementations and upgrades; and
  • Ad-hoc project work on various areas of the finance function

Requirements:

  • You must be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Your experience will likely be gained from an accounting firm (Big 4 and top 30 firms preferred) and this role will represent your first position post-practice
  • You will have had exposure to financial services through your clients
  • You could also have qualified in industry, having trained with a financial services business
  • Have excellent all round communication skills and be able to work in small teams
