Department Profile

The Institutional Equity Division (IED) is a global leader in the origination, distribution and trading of equity, equity-linked and equity-derivative securities. The Firm’s equity Sales & Trading operations provide liquidity, distribute content, and create product solutions to help our clients generate alpha. The Equity Financing Products department acts as a strategic partner to more than 800 top hedge fund managers: executing and clearing trades across asset classes, time zones, and currencies; providing financing and expertise to help manage risk and benefit from technology; and consults to help launch new funds and connect with them potential investors.

We have a position within the MSET Coverage team covering clients trading listed derivatives. The role is client facing and the successful candidate would directly manage relationships with traders and portfolio managers.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coverage : Provide trading coverage to existing clients of MSET trading global futures and options across asset classes – managing trading related issues, answering questions clients have on futures and options markets and market structure. This can include executing trades on behalf of clients.
  • Risk Management: Working with clients to set and manage risk limits across various execution platforms. Liaising with MS Risk management, exchanges, and regulators to manage trade related enquiries.
  • Execution consultancy : Provide advice on market structure, MSET products and algorithms, review existing client execution performance. Train clients on execution platforms and how best to use them. Monitor client orders and communicate any issues to the client, troubleshoot trade issues with IT, exchanges, and operations.
  • Sales : Update clients with new MSET products that are applicable to their business. Collaborate with sales teams to win new business.
  • Content : Provide relevant market, regulatory and research updates to Listed Derivative clients.


Skills required (essential)
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant subject i.e. mathematics, economics or science based disciplines.
  • Experience in financial markets with a background in Futures and Options. Preferably previous exposure within electronic trading and in listed derivatives.
  • Good understanding of systematic and algorithmic trading strategies and trading technologies.
  • Strong client facing communication skills and an ability to disseminate complex information clearly and accurately in a timely manner.
  • Strong knowledge of Bloomberg and wider pricing systems; excellent MS Excel skills.
  • Existing FCA registration being highly advantageous.
  • The role will require some travel requirements as with client and wider business demands.
