The Valence Group is the world’s largest team of wholly-dedicated M&A advisors to the global chemicals, advanced materials and related sectors. The Valence Group is looking for an Associate to join its Investment Banking Team in London. This person will be an integral part of the group, including the potential for significant deal responsibilities and senior banker / client interaction.

Associate:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversight and careful checking of all elements of Analyst’ work –  must have sufficient judgment to be able to direct and prioritise work of Analysts
  •  Requires decision making as well as analytical/processing skills, and ideally will have undergone a formal training program at a major firm
  • Basic drafting of marketing and deal documents (teaser, info memo, management presentation) under supervision
  • Establishment of basic structure of presentation
  • Negotiation of confidentiality agreements and other basic transaction documents
  • Data room organisation
  • Preparation and dissemination of Q&A lists
  • Data gathering, synthesis and management
  • Design and building of complex financial models

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-4 years work experience in M&A investment banking
  • Excellent analytical, modeling and interpersonal skills. Strong quantitative skills with attention to detail
  • Exposure to M&A transaction analytics and processes
  • Strong ability to work in an entrepreneurial culture, requires early evidence of leadership skills
  • Prior knowledge and/or experience in related sectors is not required, but is a plus.
  • Must be able to represent the firm at a client meeting without supervision and display evidence of technical capabilities and personal traits to develop into a VP
