We are now recruiting for a Liquidity Manager at AVP level for our client, a reputable and highly successful boutique global investment bank based in the City/London (currently the office is working remotely/from home). The bank is a well-managed business that has been on a growth trajectory over the last decade and have an excellent reputation and track record of staff retention, developing the careers of their employees and offering a collaborative and positive working environment. Candidates should ideally bring a minimum of 4-5 years of experience in Liquidity Risk Management and working knowledge of ILAA framework.

Candidate Profile:

  1. A min. of 4-5 years of experience in Liquidity Risk Management and working knowledge of ILAA framework
  2. Investment banking, capital markets or securities experience would be nice to have but will consider candidates with relevant experience from wider financial services
  3. Previous regulatory environment experience
  4. Confident communicator with ability to build effective stakeholder relationships across the business
  5. ‘Can-do’, positive and collaborative working approach with willingness to be hands-on with a variety of tasks

Role Overview:

A primary function of the Treasury department is to ensure control over its funding and liquidity position at all times, for the full range of securities and derivatives products traded by the company. The Liquidity Manager's role is to ensure the company's liquidity risks are measured, monitored and reported in a timely manner, within the appropriate controls and procedures that meet the standards required by the regulators, our own auditors and our external risk stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To monitor regulatory liquidity reports (FSA 47/48 etc.) and internal liquidity matrices
  • To determine the projections and drivers of the cash flows and liquidity flows
  • To assist Management in evaluating, assessing and analysis liquidity requirements
  • To help propose solutions to meet the requirements
  • To work with Risk Management to identify all the liquidity risks for the company, and enhance the liquidity risk management framework
  • Monitor, investigate and resolve all mismatches ensuring appropriate communication and escalation with desk / Treasurer / CFO
  • Assist Treasurer and Head of Liquidity Management in developing liquidity projections, forecasts under stress scenarios
  • Analyse currency mismatches and funding shortfall
  • Assist Treasurer and Head of Liquidity Management in building out Contingency Funding Plans, participate in the Liquidity processes such as ILAA
  • Initiate and manage projects to support the reduction of risk, enhancement of control, introduction of new products and business process changes throughout the Operations teams both in London and New York
  • Help in preparation of regulatory reports for liquidity and ad hoc analysis on the Firm's funding issues
  • Work with Treasury Funding Manager to meet the firm’s funding and liquidity requirement, serve as back up when they are not available.
  • Provide secretariat support for Liquidity Management Committee

Additional information:

  • The role requires the holder to make decisions on daily management of the cash movement population throughout the whole lifecycle, informed by experience, market knowledge, understanding of accepted practice and industry standards, whilst recognising when decision making needs to be referred elsewhere.
  • The role requires production and presentation of the ILAA process for the Firm
  • The role also requires maintenance of, and adherence to, the department’s Policy and Procedures.

Examples of stakeholders include (but not limited to):       

  • Front and Middle Office of M&A, Equities Sales & Trading, Fixed Income Sales & Trading and Capital Markets
  • Support functions across Risk Management, Finance, Operations, Planning, System, Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal
  • External stakeholders such as client and market counterparts, and where appropriate, their designated settlement agents. Our agent bank network and centralised securities depositories, auditors and vendors, regulators

Additional skills required:

  • Previous experience in liquidity risk management and working knowledge of an ILAA framework
  • Previous regulatory environment experience
  • High level of client service focus
  • Strong ability in risk identification and reduction
  • Management of control regimes
  • Strong tactical and strategic prioritisation
  • Must be a good team player
