Lead Engineer (Kafka / Java) - Digital Platform
Salary: £80k - 130k base + bonus

Job description:

One of the world's most renowned financial institutions is seeking a talented engineer with technical leadership experience.

Working in small, highly motivated, agile teams, members of the Digital Platform group are multi-disciplined, working across all areas of the solution space. In this role, you will be the Lead Engineer tasked with overseeing the build-out of a brand-new platform service which will provide event streaming, routing and function execution.

You will be joining a global team of exceptional developers that enjoys a strong culture of collaboration and idea sharing. Collectively you will build reusable code and libraries and optimize cloud-native services with telemetry and auto-scaling built in, striving for continuous improvement.

Skills and Experience Required
  • 6+ years of experience, including previous leadership experience
  • Must have solid Kafka experience and complex event streaming, plus messaging tech, e.g. RabbitMQ
  • Strong core Java skills
  • Experience with microservices and APIs
  • Cassandra experience is a big plus, as is DevOps/Cloud capability
  • Bonus points for Apache Spark, Flink, Hadoop
