We're looking for a Lead Business Analyst to join our community of experts in DWP Digital.

You'll lead, inspire, mentor, support, and develop an established team of business analysts whose work needs to drive the best outcomes for both Universal Credit Digital claimants and the taxpayer.

Universal Credit is one of the highest profile digital transformation programmes in the world. Recently praised for its fast and flexible response to the Covid-19 pandemic Universal Credit is the most fundamental change to the way people interact with government services since the inception of the welfare state.

Data with Precision: what does a Lead BA do in DWP Digital?

Advice, consultation and standard setting

  • You're a champion for agile methodologies and best practice, and will set standards within the function on Agile principles, methods and tools.
  • You'll offer guidance and set best practice in understanding and modelling complex business processes, and elicitation
  • You're the go-to expert and you set the standard for your functional colleagues and fellow BAs
  • You'll have a prominent role in detailing requirements, with the appropriate use of epics, features, user stories and defined acceptance criteria

Collaboration and partnering:

  • You will create opportunities for strong, influential and collaborative senior stakeholder relationships, within the department and across government.
  • You'll work with Lead Product Managers to provide the insights which shape DWP's prioritisation, and which influence work that aligns with product strategy and service goals

People focus and creating a culture of excellence:

  • You will champion professional development, supporting and promoting the principles of the 70:20:10 model to Learning & Development to the BAs working in your function
  • You'll provide leadership, role modelling and line-management responsibilities and mentoring to other BAs in the function.

What skills, knowledge and experience do you need to show us?

  • Experience leading BAs and working with service teams to build capability
  • Understanding and helping teams embody and embed Agile approaches
  • Coaching, mentoring, peer reviews, providing a friendly ear and creating opportunities
  • Developing Business Analyst capability for teams and individuals, using knowledge of emerging trends to shape future learning
  • Critical thinking ensuring the business problems are understood; not afraid to ask difficult questions.
