The Company:

Preqin is an independent research company providing data and intelligence to the alternative assets industry, through the collection and collation of data both directly from investors and fund managers, and through tracking of online resources. We provide investment professionals with the impartial and powerful information they need to make robust decisions; we are not practitioners in the financial industry and we do not provide direct advice. Our high quality data and research reports are well regarded and we have a strong brand name within the finance industry. Preqin’s clients include fund managers, legal firms, institutional investors, financial advisors and placement agents.

Headquartered in the City of London, we are rapidly growing and have an increasingly global reach with offices in New York, San Francisco, Singapore, Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Manila.

The Role:

The focus of this role is in obtaining ‘hard to get’ information primarily through telephone calls to finance professionals, and/or by emails to industry contacts, or by searching a wide range of sources on the internet. This information is vital to the company’s ability to provide the breadth and depth of data to our clients.

We are currently hiring for a number of teams specialising in different types of data collection and covering a mix of asset classes within alternatives. Core responsibilities within the roles we offer include:

  • Telephoning and emailing fund managers and/or investors to obtain valuable, private information that is used by our clients.
  • Tracking online news sources and conducting in-depth online research; making use of a variety of online and public sources to gather relevant information on industry entities and events.
  • Establishing and maintaining professional, working relationships with key industry experts,
both locally and globally, through direct (non face-to-face) contact.
  • To connect our clients with the data you have acquired, you will be required to update our online database with key financial information, statistics and analysis in a timely manner.
  • Occasionally performing statistical analysis using MS Excel and putting together reports for blogs, publications and client data requests.

What we’re looking for:

  • An undergraduate degree with a 2.1 or above (or equivalent).
  • Excellent research abilities, being able to exhibit persistence, patience and a keen eye for detail to successfully gather valuable information.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; able to effectively communicate with high level executives via phone and email.
  • A keen interest in the alternative assets and/or finance industry.
  • A proactive approach to dealing with issues, investigating anomalies and a desire to get to the bottom of a problem.
  • Strong team player with the ability and enthusiasm to work independently.
  • Diligence to meet targets and quality standards.
  • Must be fluent in spoken and written English. Native/Bilingual proficiency or near fluent level of German, French or any other language is highly desirable. We operate in a global market.
  • Relevant work experience in a research-led environment is desirable.
  • We are interested in people from all backgrounds. We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic, confident and keen to learn.
