Junior Compliance Associate

We are looking to recruit a compliance associate to join the commodity side of our business. working within a small team this role is essential to ensuring our commodities business successfully completes all necessary regulatory reporting and aligns with laws and policies on crucial areas of bribery, corruption and money laundering. You will be responsible for accurate reporting to the industry’s regulatory bodies, and plays a critical role in confirming the Company’s compliance with legislation.

~~The role is critical to ensuring new and existing employees are aware of their compliance requirements and facilitating completion of training.  You will be involved in the maintenance of documentation and records which is essential to the effective running of the department.  To succeed in this role the Junior Compliance Associate is able to confidently communicate with a variety of stakeholders and brings strong technological, analytical and numerical skills to the table. The role offers the opportunity to develop a strong commercial acumen in commodities and compliance, and scope to take on more responsibility over time.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit daily UK/EU/Swiss financial service statutory reports such as those required by EMIR/MiFIDII/AMF/FMIA
• Provide support and assistance to the department’s Compliance Officer in relation to:
o Anti-Money laundering and bribery and corruption legislation
o International financial sanctions regulations
o KYC Due Diligence Screening
o Minimum standards and operating policies
• Support training plans for new joiners in commercial teams, ensure they have completed all their compliance training, and check teams are trained on their compliance requirements
• Assist with the management of the department’s records, ensuring that documentation is:
o Correct and complete
o Stored securely
o Accessible for internal and external audits

Skills & Qualifications

• Strong commercial acumen, analytical and numerical skills
• Intermediate to Advanced  Microsoft Excel skills with knowledge of macros and look up tables desirable
• Can work independently and display a willingness to learn with an entrepreneurial approach to help offer solutions to issues that arise
• Self-confidence, able to voice opinions constructively
• Strong verbal  and written communication skills and someone who effectively builds relationships with all levels of colleagues
• An ability to take initiative, roll up your sleeves and have a “hands-on” approach
• A strong work ethic, the ability to work to tight deadlines, and be able to deal with competing priorities
