Java Developer - Core Portfolio Implementation - Associate

JP Morgan Asset & Wealth management is currently engaged in a multi-year programme to re-develop its portfolio management platform. The newly formed Portfolio Implementation Core team is responsible for all of the shared services used by Equities, FI, Multi-Asset Solutions and Beta globally during the implementation phase of the portfolio management process, from exposure management to order sizing and raising.

The PI core team is about to embark on a large scale re-development of the system leveraging the latest technologies and development practices. As a member of this team you will be responsible for the design and build of critical components and architecture to a globally distributed front office user base.

The design of the new application is in its initial stages so this is a chance to be involved from the very beginning on a challenging and exciting new project. The build will leverage modern software approaches including continuous delivery and micro services and look to utilize open source frameworks where possible.

Skills and Requirements

As an outstanding software engineer you will;

  • Be committed to continuous learning and developing your skills and knowledge

  • Self-starting with the ability and confidence to drive and deliver solutions into production
  • Quality focused with an understanding and appreciation of automated testing

Essential qualifications and experience
Minimum 3 years' experience as a professional software engineer
  • Excellent knowledge of Java (ideally including 8 or above)
  • JavaScript with modern libraries such as React
  • Experience of developing for the cloud
  • Experience of the full software development cycle
  • Practical experience of unit testing
  • Practical experience of using design patterns
  • Use of version control systems with multiple developers
  • Experience of continuous integration and deployment tools and approaches
