This role is part of a transformation programme which will see the outsource of some of M&G's Investment Operations team transfer to Statestreet's IMS Alpha Services division on the 1st July 2021.

As part of the transfer a new Head of Transaction Management role has been established and the individual will be responsible for the current Investment Operation teams of Settlements, Collectives, Treasury and Portfolio Operations.

Manager / Expert :
  • As a people manager, accountable for managing and motivating the team to ensure quality of delivery and service to customers and stakeholders
  • Manages conflicts that may impact delivery
  • Problems faced are non-routine and needs an awareness of complex systems and the broader picture
  • Identifies and anticipates the need for change to continuously improve quality and efficiency of service
  • Manage resources and risks using expert judgement and experience

  • Have frequent contact with customers and external stakeholders

Key responsibilities for the role :

Reporting to the Head of Middle Office Services, the role will be accountable for the management and leadership of the Settlements, Collective, Portfolio and Treasury Operations Teams and will have five direct reports.

The teams are responsible for the confirmation and settlement of public equity and fixed interest securities including the management of broker relationships. Deal placement and settlement of public and private collectives and liquidity products. The management of Money Market and FX transactions and the processing of cashflows, inspecie transfers and resolution of cash and stock reconciliation exceptions.

The individual will be required to support the Head in the following :
  • Management of teams in accordance with established procedures and controls
  • On-going review of processes to reduce operational risk and improve efficiency
  • Support the change management process and work with the Change Manager to ensure all product launch activity, new markets and regulatory change are delivered to SLA's.
  • Ensure the team is appropriately resourced and trained with objectives set and performance is reviewed regularly by their managers.
  • Work collaboratively & take personal accountability to maintain and enhance the team's controls and to support the improvement of the control environment, supporting the risk framework including audits and a reduction in operational risk.
  • Act as an escalation point for key M&G and Statestreet stakeholders
  • Ensure service delivery of the teams within the SLA and performance against KPI's and support the Head of Middle Office Service at monthly Service Review meetings.

Skills, Knowledge & Experienced Required :
  • Proven management experience in a similar role within Operations
  • Prior experience of delivering change and transformation
  • Strong knowledge of public, collective & cash instrument asset classes including the trade life cycle
  • Proven relationship management experience with stakeholders, third party administrators and suppliers
  • Strong knowledge of operations, risk and supporting audits
  • Prioritisation skills including the ability to prioritise the pipeline of change requests and manage the delivery of the team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong sense of ownership
  • Aladdin knowledge
