This hands-on leadership role has a broad remit for providing strategic oversight and management of all aspects of Financial Crime risk for the WorldFirst Group. As Head of Financial Crime you’ll lead the team accountable for developing effective policies, controls and procedures related to Financial Crime.

As Head of Financial Crime you’ll lead the team accountable for developing effective policies, controls and procedures related to Financial Crime.

Examples of Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a robust financial crime framework to adequately protect the business and ensure compliance with financial crime regulations and regulatory guidance relating to Fraud, AML and CTF;
  • Direct, guide and control activities related to Financial crime and provide overall leadership of the Financial Crime strategy for the Group;
  • Undertake, at least annually, a financial crime risk assessment for the Group, ensuring that remedial action is taken to implement recommendations and an annual plan is created and followed by Group entities;
  • Provide updates and guidance on new and changing regulation to Senior Management and the Board, regularly reviewing developments in regulation/guidance in the jurisdictions in which the Group operates;
  • Provide subject matter expertise to the business on all matters connected to applicable financial crime regulations in all jurisdictions in which the Group operates;
  • Advise the business about the Financial Crime implications of future business activities and ensure risks are considered as part of the development of new products or service changes;
  • Establish and maintain third party supplier relationships to guarantee we are working with the most suitable and cost-effective providers/solutions on regional and Group wide;
  • Manage the internal/external financial crime audit process, implementing recommendations and maintaining compliance;
  • Design and maintain relevant Management Information (MI) needed to monitor financial crime risks to report to relevant board committees on monthly and quarterly basis;
  • Oversee the provision of material for Financial Crime training and ensure that all employees are effectively trained on Financial Crime and a compliance culture is positively reinforced throughout the business;
  • Provide effective support to the compliance teams on key initiatives to constantly improve processes, awareness and reporting; and,
  • Ensure that controls preventing financial crime are operating effectively and are subject to review.

Key Capabilities:

  • A Financial Crime subject matter expert with extensive experience leading teams within a regulated financial institution
  • ACAMS/ICA or equivalent certification;
  • Solid understanding of all relevant financial crime regulations & regulatory guidance, particularly with reference to Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information to the payer) Regulations 2017 (MLRs) and the EU Funds Transfer Regulation (EU 2015/847).
  • Proven experience implementing/maintaining frameworks, systems and controls for Financial Crime compliance.
  • Exceptional management skills. Ability to motivate and inspire the team.
  • Collaborative and supportive with the team and colleagues across the organization, while still being able to work independently when needed.
  • Strong analytical skills, in particular the ability to draw logical conclusions from a range of diverse source materials and present them in a clear and engaging way.
  • The gravitas to build and maintain relationships across all levels of the business. 
  • Must be willing to work in a hands-on environment
