Job Type: Permanent

Salary: 55,000-65,000 GBP

 

 

An established Commodities Trading and Logistics company, who specialise within the Soft Commodities logistics and ship management services space are currently seeking to hire a Head of Accounting to support their growth and operations in London. You will play a key role in the organization's operations and commodities accountancy function. In addition to that, you will be able to make a direct impact on the firm by immediately helping to expand and support the team.

 

 

Key responsibilities of the Head Accountant include:

 

  • Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable

  • Manage a team of 7 direct reports

  • Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results

  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status

  • Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending

  • Provide technical support and advice on Management accountant

  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures

  • Manage accounting assistants and bookkeepers

  • Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process

  • Provide input into department's goal setting process

  • Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule

  • Assist with tax audits and tax returns

  • Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance

  • Plan, assign and review staff's work

  • Support month-end and year-end close process

  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

 

Key requirements include:

  • A Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Accountancy

  • Qualified Accountant

  • Right to work in the UK
