As a Group Accountant you will be responsible for all aspects of the consolidation and reporting of the UK, European and USA businesses. You will have strong technical skills to support the IFRS compliance by assisting in the determination and documentation of accounting treatment for complex, routine and non-routine transactions. You will also lead the implementation of new accounting standards and assist with other accounting projects including financial audit.

As a Group Accountant you will…

Be responsible for all aspects of the consolidation and reporting of the UK, European and USA businesses. You will have strong technical skills to support the IFRS compliance by assisting in the determination and documentation of accounting treatment for complex, routine and non-routine transactions. You will also lead the implementation of new accounting standards and assist with other accounting projects including financial audit.

This role will give the opportunity for exposure to staff at senior levels across the business and require close working with the finance teams in other geographies. 

You will be joining the Finance team based in London and will be reporting into the Group Head of Corporate Reporting.

You’ve been there and done this…

  • Experience of producing the statutory accounts under IFRS
  • ACA/ACCA qualified/passed finalist or relevant equivalent
  • Comfortable of working with IFRS and must have the ability to investigate the accounting treatment of new and complex products under IFRS
  • Prepare monthly Group reporting package including comparative reports of operating results and financial position and variance explanations
  • Assist in preparing quarterly Board packs
  • Responsible for drafting and standardising group accounting policies, seeking input and agreement from all geographies
  • Coordinate the provision of financial information requests to investors as required
  • Coordinate the provision & preparation of financial information requests for both internal and external auditors and assist in the drafting of annual statutory financial statements
  • Ad hoc project work/ queries as required e.g. supporting bank covenant reporting/FCA reporting requirements

It would be great if you’ve also got…

  • In depth understanding of IFRS, including financial instruments accounting; knowledge of US and German GAAP will be useful but not essential
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational and project management skills; ability to work independently in a fast paced environment
  • Good working knowledge of Office tools (Excel, Word and Powerpoint)
  • Hands-on approach and proven ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and drive through changes – a self-starter
  • Interest in and understanding of financial technology and online lending
