Leading Global Energy Trading House is now seeking a German speaking Graduate to join their London office. You should ideally have a numerical and analytical degree and some knowledge of the European Power or Gas markets.

This commercial role provides the interface between the short term power traders and Grid Operators and ensures that the physical positions exactly matches the trader’s strategy, so that no value is lost

Key Duties are as follows:

• To manage short term physical electricity position in European markets.
• Act as the interface with the European Grid Operators for;
• The submission of bids for the purchase of transmission capacity.
• The nomination of positions within countries and trading counterparts.
• The nomination of border flows to the respective Grids.
• Ensuring that the trading positions reflect the reality of the trading desks’ activity on the market in terms of trades being captured.
• Understand the requirements of each Grid Operator in terms of nomination.
• React quickly to information from Grid Operators to avoid or minimise the impact of costly “imbalances”.
For this role you must be fluent in German and English. You should have a strong academic background with a numercial and analytical degree. A knowledge of the European Power or Gas markets would also be desirable.

You should be decisive and able to use own initiative as well as being disciplined and able to work under pressure. The role requires a strong attention to detail and excellent organisational and numeric skills. Excellent communication skills are required for building relationships both externally and internallly. Lastly a good team player is essential.
