Functional Reporting Specialist - 12 month FTC

The Opportunity

An opportunity has arisen for a Functional Reporting Specialist to join the Functional Reporting team within Financial Planning & Analysis. You will be responsible for providing financial support to Transformation and Operations business partners, own the MI reporting, ongoing analysis, costs and allocation drivers for distinct parts of the M&G business. There will be elements of business partnering and forecasting/budget planning involved within the role.

Your responsibilities will be

  • Providing support to the Transformation and Operations Finance Business partners providing analysis, MI reporting and helping them resolve ad hoc queries as required.
  • Assisting in production of financial papers for presentation at Operations & Technology Committee meetings including insightful commentary demonstrating an understanding of an evolving Operations Department.
  • Business partnering support for the Distribution Ops, Outsourced Services and Front Office Ops areas taking ownership for budgeting & forecasting process and business support as required by Department heads.
  • Understanding the DST/Dexia Outsourced services model and the key inputs that drive the cost tariff and use this information to assist in fee negotiations.
  • Production of well understood functional cost reporting with appropriate detail and cost centre reporting as required
  • Working with the FSC team to develop reporting tools and automation to deliver continuous improvement to outputs
  • Taking an active role in developing a simple and efficient cost driver calculation methodology to allocate M&G's cost base used for management reporting. This includes drivers at multiple organisational levels -product, geography and channel distribution level.
  • Supporting the Executive Office Team with regular reporting in a standardised format and with ad hoc analysis.
  • Playing an active role in the annual business planning process and also work to embed the rolling forecast in the decision making process. This should ensure that any financial metrics from business cases for new products or offices are included in business plans.

What we are looking for

We are looking for a qualified accountant or part qualified accountant who is close to completing their exams and possess very strong analytical and problem solving skills with a good track record of process improvement as well as be able to question and understand complex financial data, and demonstrate experience in presenting analysis in a succinct manner and appropriate format. You will have excellent communication skills both written and verbal and able to liaise effectively with personnel at all levels and build strong relationships across the business and be organised, drive delivery and able to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines.
You should also have strong spreadsheet and financial modelling skills, be highly numerate, logical and capable of lateral thinking along. Experience with Hyperion and SUN general ledger systems and a strong interest in and / or experience of asset management is desirable
