Financial Analyst - Financial Services Group

Reports to: Financial Controller

Location: Central London (Full time - 5 days per week from the office)

My client is a global financial services group offering securities, banking and investment management services and providing a wide range of bespoke financial services to a substantial and diversified client base that includes financial institutions, corporations and individuals.

The group is headquartered in the City of London and maintains offices in major cities around the globe.

Purpose of the role:

Financial Analysts ensure that the Group makes sound financial decisions. In this role, you will be a critical member of the Finance team that supports sound financial decisions. As a Financial Analyst, your work, whether it is modelling business scenarios or tracking performance metrics, will be used by our leaders to make strategic company decisions. While working on multiple projects at a time, you should focus on innovative ways to examine the business, enabling you to provide new perspectives, insights, and recommendations.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Working with the wider business to maintain and review budgets and forecasts.
  • Assisting with budget preparation and monitoring.
  • Manage select areas of the P&L and work closely with other Finance members to support corporate level.
  • Control certain balance sheet areas and production of reconciliations and analytical information to ensure appropriate treatments.
  • Crystallize key-cost drivers and interdependencies and create ROI frameworks.
  • Help design the programs, processes, policies, analytics, and tools to enhance financial decision making.
  • Actively contributing to strengthening of the Finance team and identifying opportunities to increase efficiency.
  • Technical data analysis skills, including the ability to query data from large scale databases using SQL.
  • Analytical skills, including statistical modelling and regression analysis.
  • Assisting with preparation of monthly management accounts and daily MI
  • Assisting with budget preparation and monitoring

Qualifications / Relevant Experience:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Mid to latter stage ACA/ACCA/CIMA studier
  • Experience in accounting operations and finance management.
  • Highly proficient in Excel (including data analysis add on), PowerPoint and Power BI.
  • A self-starter and highly motivated with organizational and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to work well as a team.
  • High attention to detail and being proactive and self-motivated.
  • Experience of working in a high paced deadline driven environment.
  • Experience in finance and/or analytics at a multinational organization, in management consulting, investment banking, finance, or similar environment.
  • Preferable exposure to Financial Services but strong Non-Financial Services considered.
  • Sage experience desirable but not essential.
