Department Profile

Morgan Stanley’s Deleveraging and Lending (DLG) strategist team is a growing, business-aligned team that focus on real-time tools for traders and salespeople in the Fixed Income Division. The team is responsible for cashflow modelling and analytics for European warehouse loans, commercial real estate loans and mortgage whole loan transactions.

DLG is currently seeking an experienced Associate level candidate to work on all aspects of originating, structuring and closing of commercial real estate based financing transactions. The successful candidate will ideally have proven experience in financing asset types across the spectrum of real estate assets including but not limited to commercial, retail, logistics, hotels.

Primary Responsibilities

• Providing bespoke financing solutions for key clients.
• Structuring and pricing loan transactions.
• Managing the underwriting process including liaising with clients, internal stakeholders and rating agencies where applicable.
• Performing asset valuation analysis and where applicable applying rating agency methodology to benchmark collateral quality.
• Collaborate with internal groups such as Credit, Operations, Strats and IT.


Skills required (essential)

• Experience in real estate lending origination / structuring / risk / credit; with exposure to portfolio and balance sheet reporting, financial models and evaluating pricing.
• Awareness of regulatory and accounting issues associated with the real estate related activity.
• Strong communication, negotiating, technical skills.
• Excellent software skills; high proficiency in MS Office and programming languages VBA, C++, Java.
• Excellent attention to detail and demonstrable analytical mind-set.
