We are looking for a sell-side equity research analyst to help the ESG team with all its main roles, including publishing thematic research pieces, supporting sector teams to write ESG reports, maintaining our databases, and responding to client requests. As such, we are looking for someone who is comfortable interacting and collaborating with a large number of people as well as being highly organised. In time, and with our support, we would like our new colleague to progress to publishing their own research reports and leading meetings with our clients.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Assuming responsibility for the production of cross-sector, thematic ESG reports;
  • Support of current team’s financial knowledge by bringing an expert level of ESG insights to the team;
  • Conducting research on companies through an ESG lens, attendance at company ESG events, attendance of meetings with company management, researching company annual/sustainability reports and other sources;
  • Updating of Berenberg’s ‘ESG Top Picks’ and ESG Scores and rankings;
  • Advising asset managers on ESG themes, Berenberg’s ESG products and ESG stocks;
  • Working closely and collaborating with sector research teams to discuss ESG topics and themes across sector as well as create extensive ESG sector reports;
  • Extensive advisory engagement with companies around ESG themes, disclosure, reporting and implementing ESG frameworks;
  • Collaboration with UK and continental Europe ECM on IPOs and primary market activities.

Your Profile:

  • Previous experience in an ESG role – e.g. Corporate sustainability analyst, Sustainability consultant, ESG Research expert;
  • Expert knowledge of ESG factors in a corporate world;
  • Comfortable engaging with key stakeholders – ie institutional investors, company management teams, “internal” clients (eg Equity Sales)
  • Working in a systematic and methodical way;
  • Evidence of clear analytical thinking;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Strong ability to manage priorities and own time;
  • Degree level education or equivalent experience required;
  • Advanced IT skills, including all standard Office applications;
