Our client a major Bank seeks a Director to join its Leveraged Credit Team

The Role

To assess the credit of leveraged obligors in specific sectors/ regions and make recommendations on borrower ratings and transactions for decision-making by relevant senior management with discretionary authority.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate credit risk transactions, assign internal risk ratings and size risk appetite.  Make approval recommendations to senior credit risk sanctioners for approval.
  • Manage a portfolio of leveraged clients with loans and market risk exposures, including annual and periodic reviews/early warning monitoring
  • Analyse economic, political and market events which may have impact on the portfolio of counterparties managed.  Based on the results of the analysis, make risk management recommendations or take rating actions
  • Lead discussions and develop framework for the Bank’s leveraged lending strategy and risk appetite for the coverage sectors
  • Collaboratively work with the relevant business lines on business plans and establishing appropriate Risk Acceptance Criteria
  • To challenge credit recommendations and proposed deals, as appropriate, within respective coverage areas to ensure maximum return and appropriate use of capital funds
  • Ensure effective communication with all stakeholders including internal clients, external clients and within other relevant risk functions
  • Support the development of the division’s operating model, enhance operating procedures, ensure optimal delivery and support to our banking clients
  • Mentor and train junior members of the team

Background

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in credit risk management with leveraged lending sanctioning authority in a global top tier corporate or investment bank
  • In depth knowledge of current market trends, key terms and conditions prevalent in leveraged lending O&D business
  • In depth knowledge of corporate finance, capital markets and credit/market risk principles

Extensive experience in dealing with regulatory audits associated to credit risk management
