We are working with a top tier buyside firm who are looking to add to a centralised Data Science team sitting in the Investment division. The role will involve working with a variety of PMs across all asset classes to quantify performance drivers to improve the investment process at all levels. This is an exciting, high profile role within a team with backing from the C level to ensure success. This role would suit someone that combines strong data credentials with the ability to work with a range of stakeholders and experience (or very strong interest) in the financial markets.

This team has been established to utilise cutting edge data and technology within Investment decision making. This role is to take ownership of the Process Attribution and Optimisation piece within the Investment context. This will involve a wide range of initiatives including many that will be ideated by the sucessful candidate. Some of the areas of focus will include creating a framework to process mine current investment process and its performance drivers, distinguishing areas of replicable outperformance and where process can be optimised.  The role will involve working closely with a range of senior stakeholders throughout the business including a wide range of Portfolio Managers, so excellent communication skills are very important.

The successful candidate will likely have a significant number of years experience working with a focus on data driven process optimisation. There is a need for a open minded and agnostic to ensure that unknown processes are discovered and analysed without prejudice. Whilst previous financial markets experience would be advantageous, candidates with a strong background in data driven process optimisation who are looking to move into the financial markets will certainly be considered. This could be from a background in manufacturing, consumer finance or any industry with a data driven culture. 

Requirements: 

  • Significant experinece in behavioural and decision science
  • Strong technical background with applied knowledge of data driven process improvement
  • Have worked on big, high profile projects before
  • Forensic attention to detail 
  • Proven ability to work with a range of internal and external clients, along with working in a collegiate, team based environment
