On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a Data Engineer for a 3-month rolling contract based from home. There will be associated travel to Milton Keynes in due course.

Purpose of the Role:

Our Data Ecosystem is now used by the bank to power all new digital applications.  Data is at the heart of our transformation through the application of new technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Neo4J, ElasticSearch and other open-source technology and the adoption of new methods of work.

We work in close, multi-disciplined teams. We support teams to work in an agile framework to deliver value to our partners. We continuously seek to improve our lean processes and are always looking for a better way to do things.

We are responsible for the end-to-end and side-to-side aspects of the data business, from data integration and exploitation, data modelling and architecture to data governance. We design, test and deploy applications and are responsible for the strategy through to implementation, change management and communication.

As a Data Engineer you will be responsible for:

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for building new data pipelines and data applications in the Customer and Financial Crime domains of the Data Ecosystem.

Reporting into a Tech Delivery Lead, you will be part of a cross-functional agile team and interact with stakeholders across the programme, so you will have to leverage a strong technical background but also functional knowledge to be able to communicate effectively. The role requires a collaborative, independent, committed individual who can speak up and offer constructive feedback with strong technical foundations.

What we require from the candidate:

  • Essential: Scala, Spark, Hadoop.
  • Programming languages: scala (advanced), java, HiveQL, cypher, sql (intermediate).
  • Very experienced in Spark and Hadoop, preferably having worked with the Cloudera platform.
  • Implementation of relational databases and noSQL databases: Neo4j, MongoDB, ElasticSearch.
  • Working knowledge of Kafka, KSQL, KStream and Kafka Connect.
  • Solid engineering foundations, including: test automation, continuous integration and continuous delivery; solution design and software architecture; agile software development, preferably test driven development or behaviour driven development
  • Basic functional knowledge of financial services and financial crime.
  • Experience with Informatica and public cloud technologies is a plus.

Santander will only accept workers operating via an Umbrella or PAYE engagement model.
