Dimensional Fund Advisors is currently recruiting for a Manager that would be responsible for intermediary oversight of middle office function managing the development of associated business requirements.The Manager should have a high level of industry experience in multiple areas of outsourced Middle Office Operations. The position oversees daily team operations and works with Senior Managers & VP's to improve the globally consistent operational efficiency of the business. OVERVIEW:

The Manager is responsible for intermediary oversight of middle office function or program and manages the development of associated business requirements. The Manager has a high level of industry experience in multiple areas of outsourced Middle Office Operations. The position oversees daily team operations and works with Senior Managers & VP's to improve the globally consistent operational efficiencies.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proven effective manager to oversee training and development initiatives; coach and mentor staff to further develop skills and successfully achieve objectives
  • Implement short- and long-term Investment Operations strategies globally consistent operational support services and system enhancements that are aligned to the group’s goals of minimizing contractual risk, driving operational efficiency & enhancing the client experience
  • Manage operational relationships with clients, service providers, custodians, fund accountants and internal departments; ensure the delivery of high quality service
  • Oversee specialized projects that impact multiple internal departments and serve as key operational contact; update management on project progress and serve as representative of function with internal and external clients
  • Manage the evaluation of trade exceptions and complex shareholder issues; work with service provider to implement necessary operational improvements
  • Evaluate service provider performance & risk and drive process improvements within Dimensional and back or middle office vendors by utilizing root cause analysis, tracking KPIs and issues, and monitoring SLA metrics
  • Manage escalated issues from internal and external stakeholders; ensure timely resolution and adherence to contractual policies, procedures and controls through review of Service Level Agreements
  • Oversee the daily vendor reporting and reconciliation processes
  • Manage the development process for mapping, defining and documenting process flows; identify areas of improvement and provide feedback on resource requirements and allocation
  • Integrate new operational process flows from outsourced back or middle office functions into the firm’s processes
  • Maintain adequate business continuity and disaster recovery plans; facilitate periodic testing and improvements
  • Provide support to senior management and Legal during client contract negotiations
  • Oversee the reconciliation of middle office invoices
  • Present Operations Model during onsite client due diligence visits and maintain updated presentation decks
  • Manage special projects, initiatives and audits for Investment Operations and other groups on an ad hoc basis

 QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Bachelor’s degree; Finance, Business or Economics required
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience, minimum 5 years in back/ middle office operations and accounting
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing a team
  • Past experience with third party vendor management of  middle office functions
  • Demonstrated success in running multiple projects while simultaneously managing stakeholder expectations
  • In-depth knowledge of the Financial Services industry and mutual funds, including an in-depth understanding of custody, accounting, shareholder transaction processing and investment operations work flows
  • Project management skills, including systems integration of new technological platforms, re-engineering of business processes, end user systems application testing and integration, and issue tracking and resolution
  • Excellent written & verbal communication; able to articulately deliver presentations to senior management
  • Ability to develop and sustain strategic global relationships between investment operations teams, clients & depts.
  • Ability to impact and influence others across the organization
  • Strong analytical mindset with an ability to synthesize data
  • Detail-oriented and capable of multi-tasking and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines
  • Willing to be hands-on through daily activities and give clear, constructive & actionable feedback to subordinates
  • Ability to work independently to meet project requirements with minimal supervision
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite

PREFERRED:

  • Project Management certification, a plus
