In support of the continued growth of our Funds and Separate Account business in EMEA, we are currently seeking to recruit a high calibre Lawyer to join our Legal team in London, Luxembourg or Frankfurt. This individual will play an important role providing legal support to our business activities in EMEA, in particular the management and administration of our EU funds, the distribution of non-EU and EU funds in EMEA and the servicing of our EMEA separately managed account clients. The role will collaborate with colleagues based in APAC and the US and across functions.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Providing or overseeing legal support for Wellington Management's EU funds, EMEA separate account clients and associated regulated entities, including:
  • Providing general counsel and advice on regulatory, fiduciary, risk and other issues related to the management and administration of funds and the servicing of separate account clients;
  • Providing general counsel and advice in relation to selling and marketing activities, including funds distribution;
  • Advocating and engaging with regulators;
  • Providing legal advice and general counsel to project teams and business colleagues;
  • Managing external counsel.
The successful candidate is likely to have:
  • 8+ years PQE, gained at a city law firm or in-house;
  • Broad-based asset management expertise, ideally with experience of Luxembourg or Irish UCITS funds;
  • Good business judgement, and strong counselling skills;
  • A pragmatic and risk aware approach to practising law, and the ability to prioritise;
  • The ability to manage and oversee different components of legal services, e.g. outside counsel, project work, paralegals, etc.;
  • The ability to represent the firm appropriately with external clients;
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively distill and communicate complex issues in a dynamic environment;
  • The character and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Fluency in German would be a positive but is not a requirement.
