Role purpose and description

As a leading training company in the financial services sector, our content for our learning programmes is at the heart of our success. We recognize the need to continually improve the way we develop, manage and deliver our content so we can continue our leadership in our field. For 2021, content is a key pillar of our strategy, and as a result, we are looking for a hands-on Content Director to join our team and help transform and enhance our content production and management capabilities. Our content comes in many different forms - e-learning, instructor materials, study notes, and assessments. Regardless of the type of content, our objective is to create high quality, and highly reusable, pieces of learning content that act as the bedrock of the solutions we provide to our clients.

The Content Operations Director will have three key areas that they will be responsible for managing and leading:

• Content management and curation - overseeing the development and iteration of our content management processes and people, including content management system implementation, workflows and resourcing

• Content production and service - managing our small internal team of content managers and administrators as well as our third-party relationships, to ensure best in class processes and curation, delivering an excellent service to internal customers

• Content strategy and planning - helping deliver our content strategy in terms of delivering better prioritisation, budgeting, systems, communication and development

Working alongside an existing content director focussed on authoring and origination, this role will concentrate on supporting product development, content management and process enhancement.

Role Responsibilities

• Content management and curation

o Run a project scoping, procuring, implementing, and then maintaining, an improved content management system for the business

o Providing content managers processes and procedures for managing content on an on-going basis, making content available for reuse to the wider business

o Setting policies and rules for content creation and reuse, for the wider business to follow

• Content production and service

o Act as a first senior contact for content questions within the business, supporting our relationship managers, product managers, and programme managers

o Work with outsourcing providers to deliver good and fast content production processes into the business for all types of learning content

o Introduce and maintain sustainable processes to develop the support the content team gives the wider business

• Content strategy and planning

o Working with our origination and product teams, identify and develop robust annual content plans and roadmaps, with appropriate resourcing and costing considerations

o On an ad-hoc basis, procuring new content where required to fill in gaps and updates

o Work with third party content providers to introduce content into our portfolio

o Provide the origination team with guidance about authoring capability and volume gaps, to allow pre-emptive recruitment to take place

o Preparing content budgets

• Team management

o Manage a small team of content managers and content co-ordinators

o Expand or reposition team as necessary to support our strategy

Role Requirements
  • Solid experience in content leadership roles
  • Experience leading and implementing significant change in SME environment - ideally you would have either set up a new function or restructured an internal function
  • Superb leadership skills - the ability to introduce change and bring the team and the business along you on the journey
  • Entrepreneurial mindset - ability to deliver effectively whilst retaining a commercial mindset
  • Client service focused
  • Strong team player
  • Sector experience is not essential but financial services experience or the ability to demonstrate high-level understanding of financial service topics is preferred
