Our Clients are a small, but growing UK business bank and they are looking for a well-rounded Compliance Professional with a strong background, working within FCA/PRA regulated environments, to work alongside the Compliance Director. The successful candidate will help our client to evidence compliance with its business and regulatory/legislative requirements and provide timely advice and guidance to the Consumer Business team. This is a business facing role and requiring confident communication skills at all levels of an organisation. The candidate will be somebody who is comfortable working at pace in an evolving and challenging landscape. Reports to: the Compliance Director

Outcomes:

1.Compliance Monitoring Reviews

  • Take full responsibility for researching and writing Compliance Monitoring Reviews on specified topics as part of the Bank’s Compliance Monitoring Plan (CMP), as assigned by the Compliance Director. These comprise a full review of an area of the Bank’s business, identifying all relevant regulation which is applicable together with all relevant Regulatory guidance such as Consultation Papers (CPs), EBA Guidelines (EBA) and Supervisory Statements (SS) and undertaking a comparison to ensure it is in full compliance.
  • Complete at least 4 deep dive Compliance Monitoring/Thematic/Ad hoc reviews within a quarter
  • Track remediation actions to completion ensuring appropriate remediation action has been taken before closing
  • Stay abreast of regulatory changes and developments

2.Provide timely response to Consumer Business

  • Work with the Consumer Business team on product related activities and projects so that collectively, the team meets its deposit diversification and liquidity objectives
  • Provide accurate and timely advice to Consumer Business within 48 hours
  • Review and approve financial promotions, customer communications and press releases within 24 hours
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships

3.Compliance related policies

  • Ensure compliance related policies are reviewed and updated by year end
  • Ensure policies are compliant with applicable regulatory and statutory requirements
  • Propose policy and process enhancements/improvements

4.Process reviews

  • Work with all areas of the business to review new processes and process changes for compliance

5.Advisory role

  • Answer compliance questions from all parts of the business, as an expert consultant to the first line

Attributes:

  • Subject matter expertise in compliance monitoring and advisory – PRIORITY
  • Possesses a thorough working knowledge of the FCA and PRA handbook and regulatory guidance
  • Ready to turn their hand to the many streams of Compliance work in order to execute on team deliverables
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Proactive and a self-starter

  • An excellent multi-tasker who is organized and can keep several plates spinning simultaneously
  • Great attention to detail and can handle pressure
  • Flexible/adaptable and can accept direction and feedback
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills - able to analyse complex issues in a methodical and structured way
  • Interact with people in the correct manner without being aggressive/over critical/confrontational
  • Must have several years experience at a UK bank
