Description of the Business Line or Department - Summary of the business, coverage, services

Metrics Monitoring Group (MMG) department role is to produce, certify, consolidate, analyse and report all market activities metrics (including regulatory metrics) aggregated on core processes. Its major stakes are to meet the regulatory challenges, accompany the development of the business lines and enable GBS to meet its ambitions in terms of client satisfaction and efficiency.

Working closely with trading desks, MMG controls and monitors PnL as well as risk limits (market and counterparty) and follow up on breaches. Also, it answers its partners special requests and propose adequate solutions to their needs.

MMG performs second level analyses of the risk exposures on market operations, integrating a cross-risk vision, and carries out specific studies to heighten awareness of the bank's management on subjects with potential strong impacts.

Summary of the key purposes of the role - Summary of the key objectives and primary goals (minimum 3)

  • Monitor, analyse and comment UK PnL and Risk metrics
  • Produce KPI for UK trading desks
  • Perform daily controls (validation, KPI...)
  • Work on regulatory topics for UK desks: Volker, French Banking Law

Summary of responsibilities - Minimum of 6 responsibilities to be identified

  • Monitor Commodities desk activities
  • Analyse the risk metrics and PnL movements
  • Produce high quality reports and presentation (mainly for management committees)
  • Liaise with other locations and contribute to global reports production
  • Respond to ad hoc requests from management / trading desks
  • Comply with fighting back controls
  • Liaise with ROCS to ensure control updates and build new controls if needed
  • Report on a timely basis and escalate issues to management at the appropriate time

Level of Autonomy and Authority - Define the autonomy of the role and what the job holder can authorise and make decisions on - If applicable

  • High degree of autonomy as the individual would be expected to operate with minimal supervision, report on a timely basis and escalate issues to management at the appropriate time
  • Indirect management and necessity to liaise with numerous teams within the bank inclusive of other trading desks and product control teams in other entities abroad
  • Need to be autonomous and able to report alert to MMG UK management

Competencies - Define a minimum of 10 skills and technical knowledge that are essential for the Job holder to have

  • Strong background in Economics and Finance (knowledge of plain vanilla products is a minimum - exotic products would be a plus)
  • Knowledge of financial risks and commodity finance would be a plus
  • Strong analytical skills and basic quantitative methods
  • Strong knowledge on VBA code - Python skills would be a plus
  • Written and oral communication skills - ability to communicate with the trading and other teams
  • Rigorous, punctual and responsible
  • Curiosity - Ability to take initiative and propose solutions
  • Flexibility / Adaptability - Ability to develop macro and handle special request in short period
  • Ability to Work Under Pressure - ability to handle very high business requirements
  • Teamwork - Able to integrate a multi-cultural team
