Chemical Consulting Director
Role summary
The Chemical Consulting team provide project-based consultancy work to organisations in the chemical industry
and to financial institutions. This is a leadership role where you will build and maintain strong client relationships, secure consulting business, lead and contribute to complex consulting projects and manage consultants/analysts in project teams.

What you will be doing
  • Apply industry expertise and commercial awareness to drive financial and operational performance within Europe, CIS and Africa
  • Lead and ensure the execution of division/regional strategy
  • Identify and qualify both untapped and existing marketplace opportunities
  • Generate consulting opportunities, prepare high quality proposals and pitch for consulting business
  • Act as a project manager on very large, highly complex projects and where needed can act as the executive in charge on moderately complex projects
  • Utilise a wide range of approaches to effectively facilitate large or challenging meetings
  • Build high performing teams for the most complex projects/issues
  • Guide others in developing awareness of business principles
  • Direct the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems applying advance analytical thought and judgement
  • Pull together complex multi-strand analysis into broad trends and insights and relate these to the critical issues facing the client
  • Recognised internally and externally as a guru in one or more industry segments and/or subjects
  • Negotiate with and influence others internally and externally; including senior executives within the company and vendors/or regulators
  • Define the full range of consulting problems (including 'non-standard' problems); guide others in problem definition/framing
  • Stay aware of industry best practices and alternative tools and analytical platforms

About you
  • Minimum of 15 years direct related experience. Traditionally acquired by working for industry and/or consulting, technology firms
  • Direct Petrochemical/Chemical industry experience (highly desirable)
  • Bachelor's degree. Degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, or industry-related fields and graduate degree preferred
  • Highly organised and creative with accomplished time and project management skills
  • Commercial track record of business development, sales and revenue growth
  • Commercial track record of the delivery of large, complex consulting projects
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills at all business levels (including the executive level)
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and to navigate and excel in a complex, matrix organization
  • A network that includes high level customer contacts
  • D emonstrated ability to work effectively in difficult client situations
  • Ability to write and deliver project presentations
  • Ability to lead and manage large, inter-disciplinary teams
  • Experience building successful global teams and working within them to influence positive results.  Solid leadership skills in influencing successful outcomes without direct authority
  • Proficiency with MS applications required (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Travel as required
