Markets Business Control Management ("BCM") Overview

--Markets BCM is responsible for ensuring a robust, front to back control framework is in place to support the Markets Trading businesses. BCM are trusted advisors to the business and partner with internal functional teams to evolve and improve the control environment, challenge existing practices, and identify and assess business risk. BCM support the business to implement a best-in-class supervisory culture and ensure applicable policies and associated controls are appropriately executed.

BCM are instrumental in:
  • Representing Front Office interests through control/regulatory initiatives
  • Execution and implementation of business control priorities and strategy - driving the control agenda at a functional level
  • Assisting Business and Desk heads with Front Office Supervisory management and execution
  • Risk and control governance and reporting
Primary Responsibilities for the Role

This role reports in to the Global FX Services Business Control Manager. The individual will interact directly with FX Services Execution and multiple functions across Markets, Custody & Fund Services, Treasury Services, Commercial Bank, including: Product, Client Management, Legal and Compliance, Market Risk, Product and Financial Control, Trade Support, Technology and Operations.

The candidate should be interested in working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, participating in key initiatives, and becoming involved in a diverse set of issues. Key responsibilities include:
  • Establish and drive business control forums, ensuring agenda and materials effectively cover critical business operating risk
  • Monitor key operational risks, on-going management concerns, strategic control initiatives and business evolution
  • Review and implement applicable firm policies on behalf of the business
  • Engage in first line controls including FOS affirmation, Intraday Risk, Benchmarks, Best Execution etc
  • Identify and remediate control gaps providing full transparency to the business
  • Execute ad hoc tasks / analytical requests / control deep dives / projects
  • Coordinate and engage in Regulatory Exams and Audits (both internal and external)
  • Represent Front Office interests through control and regulatory initiatives
  • Execute on the Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF) which supports the identification, evaluation, measurement and monitoring of operational risk. Key components include:
  • Annual Risk & Control Self-Assessment process
  • Timely identification, escalation and recording of operational errors
  • Timely review of incidents with key stakeholders to agree on root causes and delivery of appropriate remedial actions.
Knowledge, skills and experience required:
  • Foreign Exchange experience preferred
  • Investigative mindset, able to see issues at a high-level and dig in to the detail
  • Thorough understanding of end to end product life cycle and front to back control framework
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and process re-engineering skills
  • Exceptional organizational and follow-up skills
  • Excellent Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels
  • High level of motivation and diligence
  • Ability to multi-task adapt to changing priorities
