The ICBCS Base Metals business has had funding approved for critical items required to address operational, regulatory and IT security risks and enable the business to run with reduced manual effort. The Business Analyst will be responsible for translating business requirements from functionally aware stakeholders to technically deliverable work items, and supporting those work items through to implementation.

Job Purpose

The ICBCS Base Metals business has had funding approved for critical items required to address operational, regulatory and IT security risks and enable the business to run with reduced manual effort. The Project will deliver fixes and enhancements to an existing In-House developed application, related to the Averaging business, FX, Risk Management and trade capture.

The Business Analyst will be responsible for translating business requirements from functionally aware stakeholders to technically deliverable work items, and supporting those work items through to implementation.



Keys responsibilities:

  • Lead the engagement with the Front Office to determine Averaging and FX business requirements
  • Translate business requirements into clearly articulated functional requirements
  • Engage with the Commodities IT developers to ensure appropriate solution design
  • Engage with upstream and downstream system owners to determine impact of functional change
  • Facilitate workshops, work-stream meetings and effectively produce required materials
  • Write clear and concise project documentation including: business requirement documents; functional specifications; training guides; and test scenarios
  • Manage business stakeholders expectations and drive effective prioritization of requirements based on business value and project delivery timelines
  • Define and contribute to test cases and the testing phase as required
  • Manage the traceability of business and functional requirements
  • Identify and escalate issues and risks impacting the scope, cost, resources, time or quality of the project deliverables
  • Manage changes to requirements through effective use of change control processes
  • Assess and communicate areas of potential risk

Experience required to successfully perform the role:

  • Experience as a Business or Functional Analyst, including extensive Front Office interactions
  • Investment Banking experience including competency in the Commodities asset class, preferably Base Metals
  • Strong knowledge of financial markets and regulations with experience of trade flows / systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities
  • Ability to own and drive end to end deliverables
  • Preferable to have understanding of the Metals Front Office Applications
  • Experience with test case creation

Knowledge, technical skills and expertise:

  • SQL & XML/FPML skills
  • Six-sigma accreditation or other qualifications where business process analysis is used
  • Strong business process definition and implementation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities
  • Effective time management skills
  • Ability to network and develop relationships (both internal and external)
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
