One of the world’s leading investment banks is recruiting in their Treasury team to strengthen their capability to manage the banks’ balance sheet in terms of optimising the use of funding, liquidity and capital. This is a highly unique opportunity for front office professionals, without direct experience to join this Treasury team as a means to change careers and ultimately achieve a broader skill set by being immersed in the strategic management of a banks’ balance sheet.


  • Perform critical analytics on various metrics and identify drivers, trends and risks to make recommendations to senior management on positioning and optimization opportunities
  • Analyze, assess and manage the firm’s interest rate risk
  • Plan, execute, and review treasury funding strategies
  • Size and manage the firm’s liquidity pool
  • Manage various secured and unsecured funding programs, such as repo funding, term bonds, and bank deposits, in partnership with the Securities Division
  • Manage and optimize firm / customer inventory and derivatives collateral
  • Optimize the level and composition of the firm’s capital base relative to its risk profile
  • Analyze new business initiatives and products to assess their funding and capital requirements
  • Interpret and respond to new regulations that have an impact on liquidity, funding and/or capital
  • Create presentations related to liquidity, funding and capital for discussion with the Board of Directors, senior management, counterparties/clients, ratings agencies and regulators


  • Outstanding achievements of academic excellence in a leading tertiary institution
  • Professional qualification relevant to the financial services industry
  • Existing or prior experience in a front office position, having been immersed in traded banking products gained by either active trading, structuring or selling of these products
  • Experience in the following, though not conclusive, would be an added advantage; execution and management of financing programs; deposit raising; repo/reverse repo trading; long term debt or unsecured issuance; securities lending; derivative pricing/selling; awareness of how to value commercial terms and currency trading skills
  • Demonstrating a very resolute ambition to redirect your career into a non-fee generating function to focus on a more strategic role, where the day to day requirements are entirely focussed on safeguarding the banks financial position
