The Opportunity:

An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Finance Manager within the Financial Reporting team, reporting to the Income Manager. This role will be responsible for a team of accountants. The team is responsible for producing plans, forecasts and associated statutory and management information for income across all M&G business units and entities as well as accounting of actual income data. The team interacts with all Finance teams and the Business -in conjunction with the BU finance teams.

In the role, you will:

  • Control of income transactions across all M&G business units and entities
  • Seek to develop and improve processes through a period of initial change and in response to the needs and challenges of the business.
  • Help drive through the Income Finance initiatives already identified.
  • Maintain an awareness of changes to income related developments and legislation in so far as it is relevant to income accounting.
  • Keep abreast of business and project developments; provide input and analysis with the wider finance team.
  • Responsible for SOX, CSC, UDA and Financial external and Internal audit coordination.
  • Work closely with the Commercial finance teams to ensure that monthly results, quarterly forecasts and annual plans are accurate and well understood. Ensure deadlines are met and adequate analysis provided.
  • Ensure that all new funds are correctly accounted for and that the team has a good working knowledge of these.
  • Proactively build relationships and work effectively with Commercial Finance, Middle Office, Front Office Admin teams and other Finance teams within M&G.
  • Work closely with the Sales ledger team to ensure that billing requirements are met, deadlines adhered to.
  • Have responsibility of monthly and quarterly UK Rebate and International Trailer commission payments, adhering to strict CASS regulation.
  • Manage a team - responsibility for the management and development of direct reports.
  • Acting as Deputy to Income Manager.

What we are looking for:

You will be a qualified accountant with at least few years PQE experience along with experience in financial reporting and control, income accounting, knowledge of M&G Business Units' income processes a definite advantage, experience of Hyperion and SUN an advantage and proven team management skills.

You will have excellent planning and organisation skills with the ability to work accurately under pressure, strong analytical skills with an ability to analyse and present results, understand fully the requirements and implications of their role/team including regulatory/statutory impact and provide challenge where appropriate along with having a drive to improve processes and implement changes to existing ones.
