Assistant Accountant - Investment Management

Assistant Accountant - Investment Management

My client is an Investment Manager with assets under management of approximately $1bn, who are currently looking for an Assistant Accountant to work within the Finance Team, reporting directly to the Head of Finance.

Key Duties include:

Assistant Accountant

  • Coding, checking and obtaining authorisation of invoices
  • Preparing monthly management accounts - including P&L, balance sheet and other reports
  • Maintaining Finance data and accounting controls
  • Preparing ad hoc reports for financial analysis
  • Reconciling accounts and discrepancies
  • Preparing P11d and PSA reports
  • Preparing bi-annual regulatory reports and quarterly VAT returns
  • First point of contact with auditors, liaising and providing them with relevant information
  • Assisting with corporation and LLP tax computations and returns
  • Assisting with budgets and forecasts
  • Providing general support to the Head of Finance
  • Any other ad hoc duties

AP/AR

  • Dealing with suppliers and accountants and also staff queries
  • Processing payment runs including foreign transactions
  • Processing all invoices and receipts through an accounting system
  • Daily monitoring of bank accounts
  • Credit control and petty cash transactions
  • Any other ad hoc duties

Background

  • Applicants should have successfully obtained a numerical degree from a reputable university and have a strong academic background with at least 1-2 years' experience of working in a Finance Department.
  • Previous industry experience is not essential but financial services experience is desirable. The ideal candidate will be looking to study towards the ACCA qualification.
  • Proficiency with computers and bookkeeping software, strong typing skills. Experience with Xero is preferred.
  • Familiarity with basic Accounting principles, including accruals, prepayments and fixed assets
  • Additionally, they should have advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Exceptional time management and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional manner and strong ethical code.
  • Ability to multitask and remain motivated and positive.
  • Commitment to working efficiently and accurately
