Assistant Accountant (12 Month Maternity Cover) - Family Office

My client are a small family office, set up to looks after the accounting, investment and other needs of a ultra-high net worth family who are primarily located in the UK.

Reporting to both the CEO as well as the Head of Finance.

Location:

Located in the heart of Mayfair in a contemporary office space. The role will require attendance at the London office for 3 days per week. There is an option to work flexibly for the remaining two days.

Job Profile:

The following is a non-exhaustive list of the key tasks expected of the role:

  • Preparation and delivery of monthly and quarterly reports, valuations, cash analyses for various entities, including limited companies, partnerships, individuals and charitable foundations.
  • To act as the primary inputter of accounting data across multiple entities using Sage (essential) and Trust Accounts (preferred but not essential). A good understanding of bookkeeping is essential.
  • To assist Head of Finance in preparation and submission of quarterly partnership VAT returns.
  • To monitor incoming invoices and to assist with fortnightly payment runs, ensuring payments are made in a timely manner across multiple entities. The position requires the individual to act as a key point of contact for suppliers.
  • Assisting CEO with administrative tasks concerning investment settlement.
  • To monitor various cash balances and to be pro-active in seeking action when required.
  • Various ad-hoc administrative tasks.

The role involves working as part of a close small team where there are multiple cross-overs. The successful candidate must therefore be able to adapt to provide cover where appropriate. There will be a degree of learning on the job so the individual will not be fazed by new challenges.

The successful applicant must act with a high degree of discretion and integrity to protect the family's privacy. It is essential that the individual demonstrates good personal skills and is a strong team player. Multi-tasking, the ability to prioritise, and the confidence to be involved in unrelated ad-hoc tasks are essential.

Core skills

  • The applicant should be self-motivated, flexible, adaptable and willing.
  • Attention to detail, ability to focus and accuracy are all crucial.
  • Good Excel skills and computer literacy are essential.
  • Good knowledge of Sage and double-entry bookkeeping are essential.
  • Knowledge of Trust Accounts is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational, presentation, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter possessing intellectual curiosity whilst being prepared to seek guidance.
  • Ability to work well in a small team environment.

Qualifications:

The individual must be educated to A level. It is also preferred that the candidate is AAT qualified, although this is not essential if qualified by experience.
