The purpose of this role is to be responsible for the delivery of IT work products as part of wider business change initiatives. The Technical Specialist plans and manages day-to-day delivery of the technical build deliverables for a project. The work undertaken by the Lead Specialists within the team will encompass application changes and implementations based on high level and functional designs delivered by the projects.
As Lead Specialist, you will be managing third party development partners and liaising with the architects and designers to ensure that the IT applications and supporting infrastructure fully support the business requirements. You will be responsible for successful delivery of build aspects for a project throughout the entire lifecycle and proactively managing the delivery plan and anticipating risks to delivery. You will also be ensuring build teams are set up for success, resourced appropriately and delivered on time, to budget and the agreed level of quality.
This role will require you to be technically credible and able to dive in to detail and drive problem resolution when required to guide analysis of solutions and triage of issues as well as ensuring that the Operations Support team are engaged as required in the project delivery and are able to take it into production seamlessly.
As Lead Specialist, you will have the detailed technical knowledge and functional experience needed to manage development and configuration of packaged software across multiple projects using a range of technologies.
You will technically challenge suppliers and third parties as well as internal resource to ensure development is fit for purpose; accords with KITS standards and best practice. You will be able to show both experience with challenging resources and knowledge of suitable standards and best practice. You will challenge solution providers to ensure development is justifiable; exploring alternatives and obtaining full value.
To be successful in this role, you will have experience of using Core Systems / Custom Software Development, which includes Supply Chain and Logistics, Home Delivery fulfilment, Planning and Merchandise Management.
You must have exposure in JDA Dispatcher, Hardis Reflex, DAI Warehouse Management Systems or equivalent. In store logistics. Picking and Stock management systems; Warehouse Materials Handling Equipment, IBM DOM/Sterling Commerce, Metapack and Centiro Carrier Management, Paragon Fleet Management or similar solutions, Apex sourcing, Quality Management and Control solutions & JDA Category Knowledge Base (CKB).
