Nomura is looking for a strong technologist to join the Global WPS Application Tooling team

Department & role overview:

Application Tooling, a sub-division of Wholesale Production Services (WPS), has a broad global remit to, by any approved technical means, strategically automate and streamline the front-line WPS teams' workload. Measurement of success is iterative, metered by Production stability, reduction in repeat incidents and change related incidents, and global user satisfaction.

Nomura is looking for a strong technologist to join the Global WPS Application Tooling team. The team is responsible for helping improve the culture, processes, and tools across WPS to deliver better value, faster and with less risk

You would be working within the Global WPS Application Tooling team performing engineering and development. Areas of responsibility would include the development and support of our Capacity Management framework (Splunk, HTML, Javascript, MySQL), Application Monitoring and Event Management framework (Java, PHP, Python, shell scripts, MySQL), automation of manual tasks, Operational Dashboarding, metrics and big data collection plus its subsequent processing, consultancy and skill sharing, assisting auditors, troubleshooting and helping with production issues. As part of a global team, the local team lead will be expected to work with peers in other regions and operators offshore.

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:

  • Strong scripting skills in Bash, Powershell, Python, Java, PHP, Javascript, node.js, HTML, SQL
  • Working knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Passionate in providing high quality customer service and learning new technologies
  • Strong and confident communicator with good interpersonal skills
  • Able to take the initiative to investigate and follow-up with various stakeholders to resolve issues
  • Solid understanding of release, deployment, and change management processes
  • Self-motivated individual, quality and improvement focused
  • Self-starter and able to self-manage
  • Must be able to take initiative to keep own skills up to date and to maintain awareness of current technology developments
  • Ability to prepare accurate reports for all levels of staff in a language and tone appropriate to the audience
  • Good team player, ability to work on a local, regional and global basis and as part of joint cross location initiative
