I am working with a Retail Banking firm, who are seeking an API Integration Architect. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing robust and scalable API integration solutions that seamlessly connect microservices architecture with both internal and external systems. Your contributions will play a critical role in enabling efficient and secure data exchange, driving digital transformation, and enhancing our overall API ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand the overall microservices architecture and its integration requirements with various internal and external systems. Ensure seamless coordination between the microservices architecture and API integration strategies.
Design API integration solutions that align with industry best practices, enabling seamless communication between microservices, external APIs, and legacy systems.
Define and enforce API standards, governance policies, and security protocols to ensure secure and reliable service integration.
Identify integration patterns, technologies, and tools that best suit the organization's needs, ensuring efficient and scalable API integration.
Collaborate with external partners, vendors, and third-party APIs to establish integration capabilities and streamline data flows.
Guide engineering teams on performance testing, monitoring, and optimization of APIs to ensure high availability, scalability, and responsiveness.
Stay up to date with the latest API integration trends, emerging technologies, and industry standards, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development teams regarding API integration best practices, tools, and techniques.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience as an API Integration Architect or in a similar role, with a focus on designing and implementing scalable API integration solutions.
Strong understanding of API design principles, RESTful architectures, and integration patterns.
Experience with API management platforms such as Kong, AWS API Gateway, and Zuul. Familiarity with their configuration, customization, and deployment is preferred.
Experience with IAM solutions (e.g., Ping, Okta, SailPoint, OpenAM) and solid knowledge of security protocols, authentication methods (e.g., OAuth, JWT), and API security best practices.
Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns, messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, EMS), and Stream Processing.
Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in API integration (e.g., Java, Golang) and experience with API development frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot).
Experience in the banking or financial services industry, particularly in digital banking, is highly desirable.
