ABS Credit Research Analyst

Purpose

You will work within a team of 12 analysts within Fixed Income, covering the Asset Backed Security sector. The role has three primary areas of focus: working independently and with analysts on primary and secondary investment opportunities, helping with the on-going monitoring of the ABS portfolio and delivering required internal and external reporting.

The scope of the work will involve both public and private transactions covering sectors such as, (but not limited to), RMBS, other consumer and commercial receivables, and structured credit transactions. For the right candidate there will be significant opportunities to develop a deep understanding of these asset classes and develop sector expertise.

Key Responsibilities

* Work proactively with the team to assess primary and secondary securitisation investment opportunities;
* Maintain surveillance and monitoring information for the ABS portfolio;
* Financial modelling on individual companies and bonds;
* Liaise with other members of the Fixed Income department to ensure knowledge is shared across teams;
* Represent the team on internal committees, on process, resourcing and IT issues;
* Act as back up to fellow analysts where necessary.

Requirements

Essential

* Experience of bond pricing and financial analysis;
* Strong mathematical and excel skills;
* Attention to detail in both verbal and numerical work;
* Ability to manage large volume of data while maintaining focus on key issues;
* Proactive and creative approach to solving problems with a methodical and reliable approach;
* Good communicator with good interpersonal skills;
* Ability to manage own workload without direct supervision to ensure deadlines are met.

Desirable

* CFA Charter holder or working towards the accreditation;
* Understanding of accounting principles and concepts;
* Some knowledge of economics, either through formal study or personal interest.
