Department Description

The UK Marketing Team is central to developing, planning and representing the channel communication strategy of the UK business, as well as providing the UK channels with distribution marketing support across its major customer segments.

The primary purpose of the team is to develop and deliver integrated marketing plans to support our UK business goals and strategy, ensuring we represent "One Fidelity" to our clients in the most compelling and appropriate manner - and our clients' needs back into Fidelity.

The span of activity is broad as befits a leading marketing organisation and operates through-the-line, incorporating planning, broadcast marketing, customer engagement and digital marketing functions. Ongoing research and insight into our customers' needs, together with the evaluation of our marketing performance, is also integral to the team's structure.

Purpose of your role

Reporting to the Head of Email Marketing, the Email Marketing Manager will be responsible for the creation and development of communications strategies using a creative approach to secure and manage the target audiences whilst delivering outstanding campaigns. Working with Account Managers and Marketing Managers, the Email Marketing Manager will support the development, creation and delivery of engaging, data-driven, cross-channel communications to drive acquisitions, increase conversion, improve retention and customer loyalty.

The role holder will identify opportunities for implementing and developing customer journeys through marketing communications and engagement activities to help establish loyalty within our customer base.

You will collaborate with marketing colleagues to create email marketing activity including, but not restricted to, html templates and data driven emails plus landing pages and data capture forms for ad hoc acquisition campaigns, events, and in-life, re-engagement and abandon basket style programs. Production may include all elements of campaign creation plus post-delivery analysis and review with a view to optimising the performance of the campaigns and programs. You will use the data systems to optimise personalised and engaging customer experiences.


  • Planning and delivering data-led personalised email communication strategies encouraging customer retention and customer loyalty.
  • Customer Journey Mapping, analysing touch points with the organisation and maximising commercial opportunities.
  • Building collaborative relationships with all marketing teams to gain a great understanding of customer base through insight, segmentation and data analysis
  • Analysis and reporting on campaigns effectiveness in terms of traffic, acquisition, conversion, retention and revenue
  • Developing testing strategies for all aspects of email to ensure the most effective approach for the company and its customers and clients.
  • Identifying areas for improvement and making recommendations
  • Develop marketing automation processes to increase the frequency and relevance of targeted marketing communications
  • Guiding and advising stakeholders on marketing automation best practice
  • Create reports and insight from campaign analytics to provide deeper strategic direction for the campaigns
  • Documentation of all standards, procedures and policies of email marketing activity


Essential Experience:

  • Experience in delivering and measuring an engaging email/marketing automation strategy suitable to B2B and B2C services and the overall customer journey, preferably with back-end system knowledge
  • Ability to be creative and use their initiative to develop new ideas
  • Strong background in customer acquisition, re-engagement and retention strategies
  • A confident and articulate communicator capable of inspiring strong collaboration in an organisation
  • Knowledge of customer segmentation, list management, deliverability and GDPR regulation
  • Excellent planning, analytical skills and project management
  • Marketo certification would be an advantage
