Job Description Summary
This is an excellent chance to join the Secured and Asset Finance Impairment team within Impairment & Stress Testing.

Working as part of a team, you'd be oversighting and applying constructive challenge and judgement to the impairment reporting and forecasting of the secured Mortgages and Asset Finance book.

-\tYou'd lead a team to provide insightful, high quality analysis which explains customer credit performance and feeds into profitability, while executing control.
-\tYou'd be interpreting the monthly movements of impairment expected loss models - managing, tracking and explaining the impairment line to budget to our Finance and business partners.
-\tYou'll also be responsible for the delivery of credible and robust impairment forecasts over a five-year horizon for internal use and for our regulators.
-\tYou'll use your commercial acumen to produce actionable and tailored recommendations to colleagues, management and business partners across a range of teams, to shape our bank's credit risk while supporting the growth aspirations of the business.

We'll expect you to actively identify and pursue opportunities to enhance insight tools and the communication of results across teams - for example, by championing the automation of tools which reveal portfolio data interactions, or by employing a "top down" communication style when delivering monthly reporting.

You'll act as a source of professional expertise to mitigate the potential for risk, and ensure systems and processes are fit for purpose. You'd also be expected to deputise for more senior colleagues at Band F level.

We'll expect you to share good practice from your own area of expertise, to promote actions to mitigate and control risks. You'll drive performance and inspire delivery through others by developing colleagues with stretching objectives, feedback and coaching.

ABOUT IMPAIRMENT & STRESS TESTING

Sitting within our Risk function, Impairment & Stress Testing is becoming a centre of excellence for analytics, modelling and customer insights.

Our team are responsible for supporting the wider Risk division by:
  • Carrying out advanced data analytics and modelling to support customer needs and credit decisions across the credit lifecycle
  • Supporting the bank's prudential requirements such as capital and impairment allocation, capital optimisation and stress testing
  • Delivering and oversighting internal credit policy and external regulatory reporting requirements

THE PERSON
  • We're looking for a highly organised and motivated individual who is passionate about data insights and can explain complex issues in simple terms.
  • You're highly analytical, demonstrating this with a good degree in a very numerate subject, for example maths, statistics, operational research, physics or economics, or with previous relevant experience.
  • You'll be able to work at a fast pace and have an eye for detail and accuracy. You'll have a highly analytical approach to problem solving and it would be desirable for you to have broad experience of credit risk issues, economic principles, forecasting and statistical methods.
  • Good Excel and PowerPoint skills, would be advantageous.
  • Ideally you'll be a self-starter and have the ability to work well within a team environment, without the need for close supervision. You'll be a positive contributor to the team and take an active role in progressing your development, and the development of others. You'll demonstrate good time management and planning/organisation skills in your day to day activities.
  • You'll be able to communicate conclusions and suggestions clearly, using superb written and verbal interpersonal skills, and have a high level of creativity, drive, innovation and initiative.
  • You'll be able to adapt to changing priorities and demonstrate good personal resilience.
