Cloud Technology Services is responsible for supporting the delivery of one of the core themes within the Group CIO vision and strategy - a Private & Public Cloud capability.
It's an exciting time to join this fast moving area and support the evolution of a highly customer-focused, innovative and agile service provision which allows change to be delivered quickly and efficiently.
We are seeking two Apprentice Public Cloud Engineers to join our team working to develop a Cloud Engineer skillset in conjunction with following a comprehensive training and qualification programme provided by Firebrand Training.
Job Description Public Cloud Support Engineer - Apprentice
The role will be technically hands on, working under supervision to undertake a variety of tasks such as server deployment (Windows and Linux), patching, network configuration (VNET / Subnet), undertaking maintenance tasks, and break fix support. The role holder must demonstrate strong quality and service focus.
The Public Cloud Support Engineer Apprentice will develop to be multi-skilled and operate within a DevOps practice. They will develop a broad understanding of IT technology as well as becoming a specialist in a core technology used within Cloud. For example, being a specialist in Windows server in addition to a good working knowledge of databases, networks, and high availability services.
The role holders will be expected to work closely with programme delivery teams working on Public Cloud projects to ensure new solutions are fit for purpose.
Developing a systematic and analytical approach to problem solving is essential. Skills
Key accountabilities delivered under supervision;
•Install, support, and maintain technologies supporting Public Cloud services according to Group standards and policies, and to agreed service levels
•Provision of technical support (including incident and problem resolution) for systems and processes in complex environments.
•Under guidance, carry out technical activities in support of project delivery, service improvement and ongoing support of the platform
•Understand the road maps of public cloud providers ensuring changes are assessed against the services provided
•Create and review technical documentation for maintenance and support of public cloud platforms
•Responsible for adherence to standards through peer reviews.
•Review platform and CIO led deliverables to support change within agreed timescale utilising the group's standard change practices and tools.
•Responsible for development of appropriate test plans in support of changes to any public cloud services
•Identify opportunities for continuous automation of tasks to ensure minimal manual input and handoffs.
•Identify and remediate risks associated with the environment
