McInroy & Wood is a thriving and independent private client investment management firm, housed in its own purpose-built premises within beautiful surroundings near Edinburgh, with additional offices in London and Harrogate. Its enviable reputation for discretionary management derives from a commitment to the highest professional standards. The results are demonstrable in its investment record, in the quality of its administration and the retention of its clients and staff. The firm has experienced material and consistent organic growth over many years, attracting clients from across the UK and overseas.

The appointment will be based in Haddington, 30 minutes east of Edinburgh, and has arisen as a result of the significant growth of the firm’s business and the increasing demands of the regulatory environment.  The firm has taken the decision to split the CF10 function in order to cope with both ongoing and upcoming regulatory and legislative requirements.

The successful candidate will have a key role in the continuous development of the firm’s compliance function.  The new role will operate alongside the other Compliance Officer position (which also has responsibility for CASS) and will report to the Director of Compliance and Group Risk.  The firm’s Compliance and Group Risk function operates in a collegiate manner, with members of the team supporting the remits of the other members of the team when required.

The specific areas for which the new role will have principal responsibility include :

• Regulatory compliance in relation to market conduct, training and competence, permissions and approvals, and market abuse ie front office regulatory compliance
• Compliance support to the business, particularly in relation to the above areas
• Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR)
• Responsibility for the ongoing development of the firm’s compliance manual
• Automatic exchange of information, particularly in relation to FATCA, common reporting standards, and reporting to HMT and HMRC

We anticipate that both Compliance Officer roles will be FCA CF10 controlled functions – approval will be sought from the FCA as appropriate.

The successful candidate will have a clear and detailed understanding of the regulations which the firm is required to satisfy.  She/he will be required to work closely with colleagues across the business, including Directors.

Previous experience of employment within the compliance function of an FCA regulated business, in particular investment management front office, is likely to be a significant factor in the appointment.

The successful candidate can expect to play an important part in sustaining the firm’s established credentials.

Applications should include a CV and covering letter, briefly summarising why you think you are suited to the role.

Closing date for applications:  Thursday 12th  October 2017, 12 Noon
