We are looking for a talented Senior Wintel & HCI Infrastructure Operations Engineer to join our team. Here at BPDTS Ltd we're working with DWP Digital to reshape the digital landscape of UK government. We need your talent and energy to power that change.

You and your role

We are looking for 2 x Senior Wintel & HCI Infrastructure Operations Engineers who will provide leadership and broad technical subject matter expertise to enable better infrastructure services and solutions for the DWP.

You'll help us deliver innovative solutions and manage day-to-day service delivery and support of Application and Infrastructure IT Services. This is a complex, fast-moving public sector environment, where change is happening at real scale.

We respond to incidents, improve efficiency and minimise downtime so that products and services are available for the people who need to access them at key moments in their lives. We want to help our people be at their best and this role is an excellent opportunity for technical development and exposure in a growth area. You will work as part of a wider server operations team supporting a large and complex estate covering technologies such as Red Hat, AIX, iSeries as well as Cloud and Hyper Converged Infrastructure such as AWS, Azure and Nutanix.

What skills, knowledge and experience are we looking for?

  • You are highly experienced in Windows Server, VMware, and Active Directory Domain Services support in an enterprise environment
  • You have experience of supporting HPE BladeSystem Architecture and Hyper Converged Infrastructure, specifically Nutanix Enterprise Cloud including exposure to AOS, Prism, and AHV
  • You have a background in Service Management & Operations (particularly Request Fulfilment, Incident/Problem/Change Management) with experience of Service Transition
  • You have experience of developing and implementing proactive monitoring and alerting for critical infrastructure and services
  • You have experience of implementing, managing and supporting services that are aligned to the business strategy and operational requirements.
  • You can successfully present information like a service portfolio/catalogue to non-technical audiences
  • You have experience of developing and leading high performing teams, motivating and training individuals to deliver service excellence.

Desirable Skills. It's great if you have these but not essential.

  • Exposure to Hyper-V and XenServerHypervisors
  • Experience of managing workloads in the Cloud -MS Azure, AWS, GCP, Xi
  • Experience of managing Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)
  • Good understanding of Networking, Firewalls, and Load Balancing
  • Experience of vulnerability management and coordination of remediation activities
  • Exposure to Unix based Operating Systems -Red Hat Linux, Solaris, AIX
  • Experience of managing Anti-Virus in an enterprise environment

This role is subject to (SC) Security Clearance. You will undergo a BPSS security check prior to starting this role however you are not expected to have this before making your application.

Working Arrangements

On-call: The team provides support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and as a result you will be expected to work as part of an on call rota. The standard hours are 37.5 hours per week Mon-Fri and there is an allowance and overtime paid.
