My client is seeking a Solutions Architect to join their Software Delivery team, who work across a portfolio of diverse digital change projects. The role is accountable for all solution architecture planning and build activities across the Change lifecycle for their assigned initiatives, ensuring that the solution architectures provide and deliver successful business outcomes to the agreed quality, time and budget constraints.


  • Understand business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state), and determine corresponding solution architecture designs and change requirements to drive the organisation’s targeted business outcomes.
  • Design and lead the implementation of a solutions architecture across a range of applications and/or technologies. 
  • Ensuring that the solution architectures are aligned to internal and external standards.
  • Manage and develop the architecture for projects or solutions, working closely with lead solution architects and teams that manage and design architecture for a single system or initiative.
  • Provide consulting support to teams and other architects to ensure work is aligned with the overall architecture roadmap and strategy.
  • Monitor the current-state solution portfolio to identify deficiencies through aging of the technologies used by the application, or misalignment with business requirements.
  • Analyse the business and IT environment to identify and recommend solutions for improvement.
  • Define the principles, guidelines, standards and solution patterns to ensure solution decisions are aligned with the future-state architecture.
  • Design and collaborate on the governance activities associated with ensuring solutions architecture assurance and compliance.
  • Develop a roadmap for the evolution of the application portfolio from current to future state.
  • Facilitate the evaluation and selection of software product standards and services, as well as the design of standard and custom software configurations.
  • Identify the organisational impact on skills, processes and budget/finances of the solutions architecture.
  • Understand technology trends and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies
  • Document all solution architecture design and analysis work.
  • Identify technical risks, developing plans and designs to mitigate or reduce.
  • Act as point of escalation to build and support teams to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Work closely with the projects and programmes to ensure the execution of plans corresponds with what is being promised.


  • Experience working within a senior IT change role across a range of digital, application and data solutions & architectures.
  • Proven track record in leading the definition and successful implementation of solution architectures.
  • Leading or contributing on the selection criteria of new technology, platforms or architecture investments.
  • Producing or following architecture plans and reporting on key milestones and progress.
  • Creating or communicating technology roadmaps and plans over short, medium and long term planning horizons.
  • Proficient in clearly communicating technical complexities and decisions across business & IT stakeholders.
  • Creating and leading or communicating the use of architectural frameworks, standards, modelling techniques, and patterns.
  • Proficient in working through complex technical challenges and determining solutions/options.
  • Capability to understand and influence suppler strategic roadmaps.
  • Experience in line managing or leading technical teams.
  • Collaborating or leading technology teams across multiple locations.
  • Working within a medium to large scale agile delivery process and applying agile architecture techniques.
  • Use of Risk management techniques and frameworks.
  • IT supplier contract reviews and supporting the negotiation and agreement of commercial terms.
