About The Role

We are recruiting for a Tax Accountant to join our newly established tax team at the Society.
You'll be responsible for the calculation of month end provisions, and ensuring that key control activities are carried out and for the preparation of the various annual corporation tax, VAT returns and other required returns, ensuring all payments are made accurately and on time to HMRC.
You'll work with the tax team to contribute to the ongoing development of tax processes and strategy at the Society and will play an important part in delivering our ongoing change projects.
Y ou'll have a strong foundation in corporate tax / VAT and you will have a desire to learn more. You will have experience gained in a similar role or looking for a first move out of practice, and be part way through or recently qualified in a recognised accountancy or tax qualification.

You will be expected to work to a high standard of accuracy under time pressure, have good presentation skills and be able to interact with stakeholders across the business, and with key external stakeholders. You will have a desire to constantly improve business process and will be able to identify risks and work with the team to mitigate them.

About You

Ideally you'll be p art qualified or recently qualified ACA or equivalent, with experience of compliance within a tax function, in-house or practice.
You'll possess advanced Microsoft Excel skills.and have the following key attributes:

  • Excellent organisation skills.
  • Ability to contribute to the team working environment.
  • Strong IT skills, including excel.Knowledge of AlphaTax and AlphaVAT useful but not essential.
  • Strong relationship management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
