You'll report to the Head of Financial Reporting and lead a team of 25 through three direct reports.
You'll be responsible for the month end close the books process, application of accounting policies and the production of financial statements across the group and will own the financial control framework and lead the external audit process for the Society.
You'll be an excellent communicator and you will portray key messages effectively, including those relating to detailed technical accounting. You will be a qualified accountant with extensive experience and a deep understanding of financial statements, relevant for the Financial Services sector. You will be passionate about the principles of Fair, Balanced & Understandable in external financial reporting.
You will ensure that the financial control framework operates effectively and you will work with stakeholders across finance to identify and implement control improvements as required. This includes steering finance transformation activity to ensure that reporting process improvements are achieved.
You will be responsible for the ongoing engagement and development of the team including colleague development and recruitment as needed.
You are a qualified accountant with significant post qualification experience in a financial reporting and control environment with a strong understanding of financial reporting requirements and technical accounting standards relevant for the Financial Services sector.
You'll be able to develop effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and communicate effectively through highly developed written, verbal and presentation skills. In particular, you will be highly skilled at developing financial communications which tell the story in a simple and straightforward way. You will be highly organised and capable of engaging with stakeholders to see through the end to end reporting process.
You will understand key risks and controls relating to financial reporting processes and you will be able to apply this understanding in order to identify and implement required improvements across the end to end financial reporting process.
We have a hybrid approach to where we work - you'll spend some time in the office and some time working from home depending on what needs to be done and where you can do it best.
If you feel you have the right experience and skills and want to make a positive contribution to the continued success of the Society then please apply today.
