The Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) is an innovative use of "Big Data" technologies to provide powerful analytic capabilities for Worldpay. EDP currently uses two Hadoop clusters in a HA and DR configuration with an expansion plan to many hundred nodes; based on the Hortonworks Data Platform. The Senior Systems Engineer is a key role ensuring that the Systems which run the Hadoop platform at the heart of this initiative is secure, available, performant and fit for purpose. How you will contribute?
You'll work alongside the Lead Systems Engineers responsible for the implementation, management and operation of the Enterprise Data Platform. You'll be a significant contributor to the Systems development, operation and administration of the EDP Services; working in conjunction with other team members to provide a highly available and performant environment. Contribute to the Design, Implementation and Maintenance of a mission critical HA and DR solution; Establish methods to ensure appropriate systems recovery. You'll contribute to the Monitoring and Management of the Service, cluster performance and capacity planning.
You'll lead the management of Systems software patches and upgrades; 3rd party software installation and configuration. Troubleshooting of Systems issues in conjunction with other team members; Resolve configuration issues with Apache add-on tools. Management of subsidiary PostgreSQL databases: e.g. backup and recovery, connectivity and security, upgrades and patching. Why you?
You'll have Linux Technical Support or hands on Linux Administrator experience with large scale Linux production infrastructure as Lead or Senior position. Strong experience of administration within Linux based production environments, including command line editors, scripting within a production environment (Shell, Python, Perl, etc.). Strong practical experience of securing Linux and related technologies within a Kerberos and Active Directory environment.
You'll have a broad range of hands on Linux experience within a production environment e.g. most of (LVM, TCP/IP, Virtualisation, LDAP, bash, performance, monitoring, security). Strong understanding and practical experience of securing Linux and related technologies within a Kerberos and Active Directory environment. Strong understanding of system architecture and general programming concepts and best practice and ability to lead solutions within these. Join the Team.
