The role is part of the 2nd Line of Defence Credit Risk function which is tasked with the on-going development and maintenance of the Bank's Credit Risk Management framework.

Shawbrook Bank are looking to recruit a Credit Officer to join our high performing group credit function. The role is part of the 2nd Line of Defence Credit Risk function which is tasked with the on-going development and maintenance of the Bank's Credit Risk Management framework.

The role holder will play a supporting role in the analysis and understanding of the credit risks being accepted by the bank, ensuring both Credit Risk Policies and Asset Class policies are understood and respected.

Key responsibilities of the role include the following:

  • Participating in the approval process through analysis and recommendation of exposures for approval within the individual discretion of more senior members of the Group Credit Risk team.
  • Support the continuing evolution, implementation and maintenance of the Bank's Credit Risk Management Framework.
  • Participate in a programme of regular reviews of the first line credit risk function.
  • Overview underwriting quality and standards across the bank.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the suite of Group Credit Risk Governance Documents.
  • Preparation of papers for and taking minutes at the Bank's various Executive and Non-Executive Risk Committees.

Suitable candidates will have the following experience:

  • Experience of banking operations and products.
  • Knowledge of Commercial Banking credit risk policy frameworks or experience in analysing SME proposals.
  • Previous Credit Risk and/or Internal Audit experience.
  • Evidence of ability to develop business judgement and a willingness to adopt an entrepreneurial view.
