Digital Project Manager - Salary upto £40,666 and 27% Pension contributions

DWP. Digital with Purpose.

In DWP Digital we're using innovative tech and thinking to permanently transform the way people interact with government products and services. It's a once-in-a-generation change to the way we work, that will touch nearly every person in the UK at some point in their lives.

We're looking for a driven and passionate Digital Project Manager who can build digital capability, lead complex product delivery, and deliver successful outcomes.

You'll join our Digital Cross Boundary Team, where you'll help manage delivery of a range of high profile cross cutting projects, with diverse stakeholders such as the Scottish Government, NHS and Ministry of Defence.

Our team are genuinely at the forefront of building modern services that enable DWP to use and share data effectively internally and across the wider public sector. This will lead to increased efficiency, increased value for money and most importantly better customer journeys and user experience.

Delivery. Work. Projects.

You'll recognise this as a 'classic' project or programme management job. It's about planning, stakeholder management and doing what it takes to ensure effective delivery. It's more waterfall than agile but you'll need to understand both.

It might just be your most impactful and interesting project management role yet though.

This is a varied and diverse role. Everyone says that, but our unique commissioning model, where we handle requests from a range of external stakeholders and beyond means it is really true here.

We take requests on the likes of replatforming, IT moves and data - from our friends in Scottish government, NHS prescriptions authorities, HMRC, BT - and turn those into something that can be handled by DWP's digital teams.

Together we facilitate brilliant work on social tariffs, healthy start activities, prescriptions and lots more stuff that enables better outcomes for people across the UK.

What skills and experience do you need to show us?

  • You take full responsibility for the definition, approach, facilitation and satisfactory completion of digital projects (typically with direct business impact and firm deadlines).
  • You have experience of building and managing effective stakeholder relationships.
  • You are an inclusive leader who can manage individual needs, views, and ideas, understands the impacts of your team's activities on stakeholders and end users and can communicate vision and purpose to your team.
  • You communicate in a straightforward, purposeful, honest and engaging manner, and you encourage use of different communication methods, including digital resources.
  • You motivate a team to deliver quality, and on time, using milestones and plans Promote a culture of following the appropriate procedures to ensure results are achieved on time whilst still enabling innovation.
  • You can apply different methods to develop a plan and can monitor and report on complex internal and external dependencies
