Location: Homeworker/field based (ideally North of England or Midlands area) The role: To represent St. James’s Place Private Clients, and support Partners in engaging, advising and servicing high net worth and ultra-high net worth prospects & clients. Responsible for providing high-quality technical advice and guidance to Partners’ clients, on complex matters, to help secure new and retain existing business. To contribute to the development of the Private Client proposition to ensure Partners remain fully equipped to successfully operate in the (U)HNW marketplace.

The role will involve promoting the capability of SJP Private Clients to the Partnership and to clients and maintaining a strong internal and external profile.   

What you'll be doing:

  • Working closely with the Head of Private Client Consultancy and Advice, use experience and knowledge to support business acquisition, client retention and development of the Private Client proposition
  • Leverage business development skills to help Partners engage prospects and win new clients
  • Use technical skills and professional experience to support Partners advising their clients, offering specialist tax and technical support at client meetings, developing pitch and tender documents, presenting to clients and leading on complex and high-profile cases
  • Build and maintain a strong internal and external network, to enable delivery of a first-class experience for Partners and clients e.g. across Investment Management, Client Services, external professional advisers
  • Maintain an expert up-to-date knowledge around tax, trust and investment structuring & planning and appropriate solutions and use this to build a credible personal brand
  • Represent and raise the profile of the SJP Private Client sub-brand with both internal and external stakeholders, contributing to Private Client comms and thought leadership content and presenting at appropriate internal, Partner, FMT and client events 
  • Contribute to the delivery of corporate targets working very closely with senior management across the Division and the Field Management Team
  • Represent and uphold the divisional values of energy, teamwork and openness and role model the values and behaviour of the Group’s culture framework

What we are looking for :

  • A strong track record of successfully operating in the private client market, supporting client acquisition and retention and the ability to interact and engage appropriately with clients
  • Knowledge in personal/corporate tax and trust planning, and financial planning knowledge across the investment, retirement and protection markets and their respective solutions
  • Experience of providing holistic advice to clients with significant wealth and sometimes very complex needs, with client interaction being a large part
  • Ability to communicate with conviction and authority, with the ability to manage, influence and challenge upward
  • Degree educated with legal, tax/accountancy or financial qualifications, with experience ideally in a similar client-facing role. STEP qualification would be desirable.

Special Requirements:

  • The role will involve essential travel to help meet national objectives and may include overnight stays in both UK and Overseas hotels to help manage travel and diary planning.  However, only essential travel will be undertaken and where meetings and support can be provided virtually, they should be. Evening work is a feature of this role but on a controlled and agreed basis only e.g. presenting at a Client Event.

Please be aware that this position requires certification as per the Senior Managers and Certification Regime.
